Super Tuscan Wine Tour Highlights Discover the prestigious Bolgheri wine area Taste unforgettable Super Tuscan wines Learn myth vs reality of Super Tuscan wines Luxury vehicle and English-speaking driver
Super Tuscan Wine Tour Program Your day experiencing Super Tuscans in the amazing Bolgheri wine area will start from your hotel, when your English-speaking driver comes to collect you in a comfortable, luxury vehicle. You'll reach Bolgheri via a long, cypress-lined road called the Via Bolgherese. The town is small and charming with an eleventh century castle of the Gherardesca family, where poet Giosuè Carducci lived as a child. After visiting Bolgheri, you will drive among endless vineyards to an exquisite winery where you'll sample some spectacular wines under the expert guidance of your winery guide. You will be introduced to Super Tuscan wines, wine-making in general and the latest trends in viticulture. A delicious lunch awaits you in the medieval hill hamlet of Castagneto Carducci overlooking Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards and the sparkling Tyrrhenian sea. In the afternoon you will visit another winery or possibly an olive press where you can discover how extra-virgin olive oil is made and taste this liquid gold straight out of the press. If you would rather put your toes in the Mediterranean Sea, you can be accompanied for a walk through the fragrant coastal pine groves down to the beach before heading back to your hotel.
About Bolgheri and Super Tuscan Wines Bolgheri has some of the world's best, most exclusive, and most expensive wines. The coastal location, away from the tourist centers of Florence and the rest of inland Tuscany, offer you a chance to explore an unspoilt area most tourists will never see. Bolgheri was first praised by its native son and Nobel Laureate poet, Giosuè Carducci (1835-1907). Nowadays it is primarily known as the home of Super Tuscan wines, most notably Sassicaia and Ornellaia. Thanks to inventive and experimental local wine makers, Bolgheri now ranks among the most prestigious wine regions in the entire world, and has a reputation for taking the lead in new wine making techniques to produce outstanding, cutting edge wines.
